ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) – You can say goodbye to those old parking meters in downtown Elmira.
Monday night, City Council approved a resolution awarding a contract to IPS Group, Inc. for the purchase of new and refurbished parking meters.
Councilman Brent Stermer, sponsor of the resolution, tells 18 News old, non working meters will be scraped. The meters will be replaced with a new solar powered pay station that will accept cash and credit/debit cards.
The total cost of the project is just over $169,000. No word yet on the exact roll out of the new meters.
