These meters give drivers the ability to put in coins, use a credit card, or pay via a smartphone app. With the SoCon Tournament this weekend, an estimated 20,000 people will flood the city.
That increase will give city officials a great reading on this new system. A 90-day pilot program is being conducted to how the system fairs on a small scale.
The new technology is expected to be installed across the city starting in July.
The project should take three years to complete.
